The STA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is a one-day course covering basic knowledge and skills for people who perform manual handling tasks as part of their daily job role.

The Learner

The STA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is designed for people who are involved in carrying out manual handling tasks in their workplace. Learners who successfully complete this qualification will be able to carry out manual handling tasks relevant to their job role and skills can be transferable across a range of industries.

Who does this qualification appeal to?

Learners may complete this qualification as a stepping stone to a career in health and safety, alternatively they may undertake this qualification to compliment another role.

STA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling: Construction worker, shop assistant, receptionist, care worker, warehouse assistant, office manager, leisure duty manager.

The Course

The course is comprised of a mixture of theoretical technical knowledge and practical learning to enhance the learner experience. Learners will cover topics including principles of safe lifting, principles of manual handling risk assessments, types of lifting equipment, and testing requirements.

Assessment

The STA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is tutor-assessed through the completion of:

  • Completion of a multiple-choice theory assessment paper
  • Practical demonstrations.

Renewal

This course carries a 3-year validity period, learners are encouraged to ensure that they keep up-to-date with industry standards and practice through current industry guidance documents and regular staff training.

The learner is required to complete a new 1-day STA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling course before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
