The STA Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid is a two-day course designed for those who may be required to perform first aid in an activity-based environment. This includes those working or volunteering in sports, leisure, outdoor education and community activity settings, as well as individuals seeking broader first aid skills for personal development. No previous experience is required, allowing learners to begin training whenever they need to.
The qualification covers a wide range of adult and paediatric emergency first aid situations, along with specific injuries and illnesses that may occur in an activity setting.
The STA Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid course is for individuals who have a responsibility to deliver first aid in activity settings or who support groups participating in physical or outdoor activities.
Learners who successfully complete this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to act as an allocated first aider within an activity-based workplace or voluntary environment. The skills gained are transferable across a variety of industries that involve activity leadership or participant supervision.
Learners may complete this qualification as a pathway into further first aid training, or to complement roles that involve supervising groups, delivering activities or supporting participants.

Once you have gained your qualification, you may be appointed as a designated first aider within an activity setting.
You may wish to develop your knowledge and skills further by completing additional STA first aid qualifications or CPDs.
Experienced activity first aiders may wish to become a Junior Medic Instructor or an STA Activity First Aid Tutor or Assessor to pass on the knowledge and skills they have acquired through training to others.
Learners may also choose to complete additional STA qualifications such as manual handling, fire marshal, lifesaving, swimming teaching and pool plant to support a broader career in the leisure or outdoor activity industry.
